The academic year 2020, was the year when it was time for the English department to display the student’s oral skills. The year 2020, being a slightly unpredictable one proved to be challenging not just for teachers but even for the students to put up their skills virtually.
Two teachers together worked as a team and encouraged the students of Std VIII to participate in the English Elocution Program. One teacher took charge of the entry and elimination round of the students. Whereas, the other decided to take charge of setting up the online platform for the English Elocution, preparing the score sheets and coordinating with the judge for the day.
13 students were willingly ready to participate in the English Elocution and shared their videos to me on WhatsApp. Out of the 13 students, 7 students reached the final elocution round. It was hard to decide for me as a teacher because I appreciate the student’s efforts more than anything else. Ms. Gemma Sequeira was the honorable judge for the English Elocution Program. The English Elocution was November 7th, 2020 was slotted for 10:00 a.m. and ended at 11:00 a.m.
It was a great pleasure to virtually see the students of St. Joseph’s Convent High School performing so well, with great enthusiasm and full of cheer.
