Foundation Day

September 8th is Foundation Day of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross. 

Here's a quick peek into the congregation & their works.

Std VIIB celebrated Foundation Day with an online programme at 10am. The programme included a video with a prayer service, information about the life of our patroness, Mother Marie Therese and the contribution of the Daughters of the Cross towards the global community.

Following this, the students participated in a poster making activity in which they drew our chapel. This red-brick building has always been an iconic structure in Bandra and this activity made them realize the beauty of our heritage. A quiz was conducted for all Std VII students by Ms. Simin and the results were announced in the evening.

The students participated enthusiastically in all the activities of the day.

The Online School Foundation Day Programme was celebrated on September 8th via Zoom App from 10am to 11.30am which was attended by 45 students of Std VIIA. 6 students participated in the class prayer service for Foundation Day. After the prayer service, the class teacher screen shared and showed 4 videos of The Congregation of the Daughters of the Cross to the students giving them a thorough insight about Mother Marie Therese Haze and the Daughters of the Cross.

Later, the students of Std VIIA actively and enthusiastically participated in the ongoing online celebration School Foundation Day activities conducted by the class teacher.

They participated in various activities like drawing the picture of Mother Marie Therese Haze, our school foundress, drawing the school convent, part of Bombay province, Some students wrote different quotes of the "Daughters of the Cross" in the form of bookmarks, also some shared rich experiences of school since their kindergarten days.

Some also participated in singing the school hymn and recording their video.

After the online  celebration, a PDF on the life of Mother Marie Therese Haze was shared with the students on the class whatsapp group at 12noon.

Based on the book, a quiz prepared by the class teacher Ms. Simin was shared with all students of Std VII from 1pm to 3pm and the first 3 winners from each division were selected at the end of the day.

The celebration for the day ended on a memorable note.

September 8th is celebrated as Foundation Day of the Daughters of the Cross Congregation. On this day, an online class was taken for the students of Std VIA and the significance of this day was explained with the help of a presentation on Blessed Mother Marie Therese. After the class, the students were told to draw a picture of any of their memories attached with the school.

Foundation Day & birthday of Mother Mary was celebrated on September 8th by students and teachers of Std X (all divisions) at 8 am. It was a virtual celebration. A Prayer Service was conducted for the students. The prayer service included a prayer, song / hymn. After the Prayer Service some information about the Foundation Day of the congregation of the Daughters of the Cross was shared with the students and a small video about their work was also shown to them.

The class teachers of Std VIII had started a week prior to September 8, activities for children to celebrate the 189th Foundation Day of the Congregation of  Daughters of Cross to which our dear sisters of our school belong to. Students put their artistic skills to use and made posters displaying some of the iconic quotes of Blessed Mother Marie Therese.

The entire programme video was put by students under the guidance of their class teachers, which comprised of a prayer service-for the blessing  our dear sisters, so that they may faithfully and joyfully serve God till the end of their life, prayer dance, speech on the Importance of the Day. 

Display of each division collage made of  best 4 posters on Mother Marie Therese iconic  quotes, video on the works of sisters of Daughters of Cross during pandemic, Importance of Cross for the sisters, song on Mother Marie Therese Haze, Thank you speech and concluding with the School Hymn and wishing each one a Happy feast. 

In continuation with the foundation day celebration a quiz on the Life and Charism of our Founder-Blessed Mother Marie Therese was conducted for Std VIII girls on the same day where 103 students across Std VIII participated. The results of the quiz are as follows:

Students of Std VIC celebrated Foundation Day by participating in a Drawing Competition conducted on September 8th. Also, a quiz, pdf file and video on the life of Mother Marie Therese was sent. The next day the quiz competition results were sent.

Foundation Day was celebrated by the students and teacher of Std VIIC on Zoom App from 10am to 11:40am. 45 students attended this programme.

5 students took part in a prayer service. 5 students performed the act of kindness, generosity and service and posted videos of the same. The class teacher explained the life of Mother Marie Therese in the form of a story with the help of the video and information from the book - 'The True Story of Jeanne Haze'. The celebration was attended by Ms. Vrushali Ghanekar.

Students also participated in the Quiz Competition based on the life of Mother Marie Therese prepared by Ms. Simin Shah.

Foundation Day was celebrated on September 8th, in preparation for which, all students were given a booklet about the life of Blessed Mother Marie Therese Haze. Students also joined their Class Teachers for a little celebration involving prayer and a brief, informative video prepared by Teacher Misha.

Prior to commencing with the celebration, the catholic students of Std IX, under the guidance of Teacher Genevieve, gathered to recite the Holy Rosary. The staff of SJC was also invited to join in prayer. In all, 38 participants joined in reciting the Rosary together.

The celebrations concluded with a Foundation Day Quiz, prepared by Teacher Genevieve.
